Celebrating 186 years of pastoral settlement on the Clarence.
Yulgilbar Station was founded in 1840 by Edward Ogilvie as a 200,000 acre sheep station. The run selected comprised the most fertile region of the Clarence River valley in North Eastern New South Wales, encompassing over 80 kilometres of the river.
The property was owned by the Ogilvie family until being sold in 1926 to a syndicate of the Morrissey brothers and silent partner Tom Baillieu.
The property remains under the ownership of Sarah and Baillieu Myer. Yulgilbar runs a herd of 5,000 Santa Gertrudis cattle, farms 4,500 acres of summer and winter cash and fodder crops, and stands as the largest Santa Gertrudis stud cattle operation in NSW.

Yulgilbar Springsteen (PP) sells for $80,000 to Cardona Santa Gertrudis.

Brett and Lucy Ellem take over management of Yulgilbar Station.

Waco Queenslander (P) is purchased for the then record price of $110,000. Australian semen rights are purchased in the $197,000 (AUD) record-breaking American Santa Gertrudis bull Red Doc Never Better (P), and Murgona Nightcap N43 (P) is purchased for $105,000 from the Murgona stud at the Heartland sale in Roma.

Major expansion of the stud over these years — 500 stud females single sire mated to elite Poll Santa Gertrudis sires, and 80 outside bred additional stud sires introduced to the Yulgilbar gene pool.
Landmark purchase of "The Lakes" Santa Gertrudis stud, owned by the Bolster family, merging two major stud operations.
An Australian record at auction — $80,000 — is paid for Warenda Sahara (poll). The record stands until 2015.

The stud continues under the management of Peter Rogan.

Following Sam Hordern's untimely death, his daughter Sarah and her husband Baillieu Myer inherit Yulgilbar.

The first Santa Gertrudis bulls are introduced to Yulgilbar Station over Durham Shorthorn type cattle with a Devon influence. 16 King Ranch bulls dominate the early history of Yulgilbar.
